Prairie Band Casino

Prairie Band Casino & Resort is owned and operated by the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, which is approximately 85 miles from Kansas City. The design team was tasked with designing a fresh new image that would appeal to guests of all ages. The challenge of the bar area was to create a space that was not overwhelming to the gaming floor, but would serve as a focal point across the entire casino. The central gaming floor was cleared of visual clutter and excess energy consumption by revamping the lighting system. The table gaming area was given new life and perceptionally expanded by new lighting systems. Architectural fins were also highlighted using simple fixtures. All renovations were completed while the casino remained open, under a short construction timeline, and within a tight budget.

Legends of Village West

LightWorks, Inc. was selected as the lighting consultant for this project specifically to bring a theatrical, interactive, and fun element to the Open Spaces. The Legends of Village West lighting design included moving effects, subtle accenting, landscape lighting, and streetscape design. Unexpected elements and playful details add an extra touch to the overall visitor experience. LightWorks also performed a comprehensive review of the building facade lighting and was responsible for the cohesive design of the development's nighttime presence. LightWorks worked closely with the artists, landscape architects, engineers, and owners to minimize surprises during construction and fully integrate concepts into final construction documents.


Paradise Park—Lee's Summit, MO

LightWorks, Inc. was the interior as well as exterior lighting consultant for this new concept in entertainment - Edutainment. LightWorks worked in collaboration with the architect to not only design an electric light system, but also to capture natural light utilizing skylights for both the first and second floors and in the design of a lightshelf for the first floor perimeter. The lighting system was to reinforce the established design concepts of whimsical, playful, human and child scale, to name a few. Features include fiber optic clouds that flow with color, a 'water' ceiling that moves with reflection, construction work lights, and twinkling starfield affects. Child scale spaces ranged from a restaurant to an art room to a make-up area. Each area called for a different lighting scheme to reinforce the design concept and aid in the overall theming of this edutainment center.


StoneFire Pizza Company

StoneFire Pizza Company is one of several unique projects that LightWorks has the privilege to be involved with. Basically a themed restaurant with Children's Entertainment makes for one very involved and detail oriented project! Coordination is essential as well as excellent communication with the entire design team to pull off a project of this nature! LightWorks was the lighting designer and worked with the electrical contractor for a seamless operation.


Three Rivers Children's Edutainment Facility

LightWorks, Inc. not only performed very detailing lighting design services for this project, but also guided the design team in integrating daylighting for the LEED process so that all possible points were achieved that involved lighting systems. A complex dimming system as well as other energy criteria were met in a themed design – not an easy task!


Wichita NorthEast Baseball Complex

LightWorks provided electrical engineering services the sports lighting portion of this entertainment project. Sportslighting calls for knowledge of the specialized sports lighting equipment and all the required terminology including glare, cutoff, visors, shielding, tilt factors, etc. Performing voltage drop calculations, control diagrams, and production of a solid competitive specification are necessary for a successful sports lighting project. LightWorks, conscious of both lighting design and electrical engineering design issues fits the mold quite simply in producing sports lighting construction documentation.
