Thomas H. Swope Memorial Restoration – Kansas City, MO

The significance of this monument in Kansas City history played an important factor in the conceptual design of this project. Resting on a hillside overlooking Swope Park, the monument disappeared into the landscape and lacked nighttime prominence. One major goal was for the monument to pop off the hillside at night when patrons enter the park - a mile away. Secondary goals included providing a welcoming environment to showcase the grand monument, enhance the architectural features, and safely guide visitors to the monument down an existing tree lined stone path. Although the goals were conflicting, mock-ups proved helpful in determining the exact specification needed for all facets of the design, and reinforced the owner's expectations of the final product.

Washington Mutual Site Lighting – numerous locations

Washington Mutual has a new concept for personal banking. As part of the nationwide growth of this institution, sites were incorporated across the United States. The development and implementation of strict ATM lighting guidelines were key in the implementation. Extensive coordination with existing site conditions, applicable state and local codes and requirements, attention to existing details and design conditions, and point-by-point analyses for each site were services rendered for these projects. Providing construction documentation that was CADD-ready for implementation in to the final documents by the electrical engineer was the means of transferring information from consultant to engineer. The result was a stream-lined process that was crucial for these fast-paced projects.
