Ellen Beier graduated from Kansas State University’s Architectural Engineering Program with a bachelor’s degree in 2010. She is a licensed engineer in the State of Kansas with experience in building electrical systems design including lighting, power distribution, and special systems (fire alarm, video surveillance, telecommunications, etc.). Ellen is a self-proclaimed integrated design champion with a thorough understanding of building engineering systems; this enables her to help guide team members towards a common goal. She has an appreciation for architecture and is aware of the visual impact of electrical systems on the built environment.

Ellen is experienced at creating construction drawings in AutoCAD and REVIT. She is capable of performing daylighting and electric lighting calculations in AGi32 and Visual 2012. She is knowledgeable of current electrical codes including power density restrictions and control requirements and design options to achieve code compliance. In her eyes, lighting design is the perfect combination of art and engineering; great lighting can emotionally connect occupants with a space and enhance their overall experience.

Prior to joining LightWorks in 2017, for nearly six years, Ellen was a part of the electrical engineering team for a large integrated architectural design company. She worked alongside architects in a creative, design-focused environment.
