First Presbyterian Church

LightWorks, Inc. provided lighting consulting services for this existing facility. Recommendations were made for upgrades to some interior spaces to increase light levels and update aesthetics. Design with recommendations for the exterior facade was the main focus of the project. With a 'Bethlehem' architecture, lighting was applied to accent the interesting building elements and pull it into the forefront of the busy adjacent streets. A mock-up proved crucial in presenting the design concepts.

North Heartland Community Church

LightWorks, in cooperation with a mechanical engineering design firm, produced the electrical and lighting design for this new concept church facility. Taking a former health care facility and creating a house of worship proved most interesting to the design team. Creative lighting design was incorporated into a large common space where the desire was to create pods for conversation, bible study, fellowship, etc. The lighting proved to be crutial in the design by the creation of lighted pools that included a layered effect for differing day and night activities. By the flick of a switch, the mood can move from a coffee bar atmosphere to that of a library study nook. Electrical engineering included reworking the existing electrical distribution system for the new layout as well as fire alarm system design. Working with the owner through construction insured the finalized facility met with the design intent.

Park Hill Christian Church—Kansas City, MO

LightWorks provided design services for this worship community when they desired revisions to their existing sanctuary lighting. Calculations determined the exact specification needed with minimal work in the field to increase their light levels by 30%. Mock-ups to determine desired color temperature of the lamps further satisfied the owner's desires to be directly involved in the decision making process.
