The City of Wichita had a desire to enhance Wichita's "postcard image". They did just that with the improvements to the overpass for the BNSF Railroad. The 100 year old structure became an enhanced historic element designed with pedestrian safety in mind. The lighting was replaced to provide uniform illumination along the sidewalks and roadway and custom guardrails were internally illuminated to highlight district branding. Previously home to many pigeons, bird mitigation was installed to allow for a pedestrian friendly experience in downtown Wichita.
